Mark Mckay – Choice of the BTF

220 Mag and Tri247.com

Since May 2006, Mark has been advising the British Triathlon Federation (BTF) on Cycling Improvement for British High Performance Triathletes.

Mark works closely with National Squad head coaches Chris Jones (women) Dan Salcedo (men) and Ben Bright (youth development) to help create fitter, more skilful and more tactically aware bike racers, thereby improving British success on the international triathlon stage.

In this role, Mark’s wealth of cycling and duathlon racing and coaching experience helps him to advise top names such as Tim Don, Will Clarke, Ritchie Nichols, Andrea Whitcombe, Vanessa Raw and Michelle Dillon to name but a few.

When they began to hear of his involvement with the cream of British Triathlon, the editor and staff of 220 Magazine were keen to get Mark onboard for some expert cycling advice and his first article – Turbo Training – was run in the December 2007 edition. Further cycling articles are planned and don’t be surprised if you read Mark’s answers to readers cycling queries in later editions too.

Tri247.com is probably the UK’s best-known Triathlon website and when they were looking for a cycling guru to write articles for them – Mark was approached! Certainly, if he can find time between all of his other coaching commitments, Marks’ Cycling Performance for Triathletes column, which started with a – winter training piece in October 2007 - will be a regular feature on the Tri247.com site.
